Hungry Kids Of Hungary Start On New Record

Brisbane’s great new hopes Hungary Kids Of Hungary are in the early stages of putting together a new album, the follow up to 2010’s acclaimed Escapades.

Our pals over at Triple J managed an interview with the band’s Kane Mazlin and Dean McGrath as they finalise preparations for an Australian tour at the end of the month.

“There’s a bunch of songs in the demo pot at the moment,” one of them said (Triple J don’t specify which), “about 11 or something, that have been contributed by different members of the band and it’s all sort of coming together. We’re looking at options for when to get into the studio and start working properly on them … it’s our favourite part of the whole deal. You get sick of songs really quickly so we’re busting to do something new.”

And it seems their adventures on the road and overseas are a major influence on the new material, adding, “I started writing songs on our first overseas trip, which was last year, and I’ve got a few new ones right now that have been inspired by a couple of places that we went to the last few weeks. So yeah, it will definitely be influenced a bit by the travels.”

The four-piece head out on tour on April 27 with a date at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, the first of 14 shows that finish with a homecoming of sorts with a date at Brisbane’s Hi-Fi on May 28. Good luck to them.
