2017 Will Be Hamish & Andy’s Final Year On Radio

Forming as a duo in 2003, Hamish Blake and Andy Lee have spent the past decade and a half doing a bang up job doing their best to make commercial radio slightly more bearable.

But all good things must come to an end, and the duo have announced that 2017 will be their final year on air.

Starting out hosting The Almost Tuesday Show from 10pm to 12am on Mondays on Fox FM, Hamish & Andy have since consistently held one of Australia’s highest rating drive radio shows. They revealed the news live on air yesterday during their show.

“For whatever reason there’s so much speculation about whether we’re leaving radio,” said Hamish. “This has been the first time we’ve known for sure what we want to do. So we wanted to let our listeners know so they can come on the ride together and it can be a really fun celebratory year and we can go out with a bang.”

“We’ve never loved doing radio as much as we love doing it now,” he continued. “That’s a perfect time to end — we’re not ending tomorrow, we’ve still got another full year, we can really savour it.”

The news isn’t all bad though, with the duo revealing they’ll continue to make us chuckle on their new TV project which is set to be very different to their Gap Year shows over the past few years.

Hamish & Andy have been touring the country with their bagpipe-featuring band Cool Boys And The Frontman this week, and were even joined at one show by Shannon Noll for a killer rendition of AC/DC’s It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock And Roll).
