Here’s a new music festival that’s guaranteed to make you moist.
Taking the Aussie summer festival season to its logical conclusion, Slideapalooza is a mother flippin’ WATERSLIDE FEST — that’s half waterslide park, half music festival — and its debut event is set to go down in New South Wales’ Hunter Valley in January of next year.
Splashing into action over the Australia Day long weekend at the Calais Estate winery in Pokolbin, Slideapolooza will feature a lineup of some of Australia’s biggest DJs, including Melbourne disclords Will Sparks and the just-announced Joel Fletcher.
They’ll be hitting the decks during the epic Slide N Lights night sesh on Saturday, 28th January to cap off a day exclusively for the 18+ crew. There’s also plenty more DJs to be announced on the twilight lineup, alongside what we hear could be some big-name Aussie bands & more rock/acoustic-based acts during the arvo Slide N Sounds bill.
So you’ll be able to rock out and rave on to these eclectic sounds while you sip on some bevs and slide your fun-loving butt down one of the epic 400-metre adult waterslides on the estate’s big hill, while fitness nuts will be able to kick off the day in action with a Slide N Sprint fitness sesh.
For those wanting some more family-friendly fun, there’ll be some smaller slides on site for the kiddies on the Friday & Sunday “family days”, while punters will have a chance to fundraise for Tour de Cure Australia, who work with local Melanoma charities and John Hunter Childrens Hospital.
Speaking with Music Feeds, organisers reveal they’re also currently working to bring the new event (and its fuck-off giant slides) to punters in Brisbane and Melbourne in 2017.
A Facebook event is calling for expressions of interest for a Sydney leg, but it’s unlikely that’ll happen until 2018, so for now city-slickers will have to make the two-hour road trip north to the Hunter.
