Aussie Bluesman Dutch Tilders Dies

Australian blues veteran Dutch Tilders died at the weekend after a battle with lung cancer.

Tilders passed away on Easter Saturday, having given up performing in January. He was 69 years old.

Undercover.fm reports a statement from bandmate Martin Cooper as saying, “With sadness that I cannot express, I advise that the Great Bluesman and my close friend, Dutch Tilders, passed away peacefully about an hour ago. One of the great Blues voices of our time and loved by so many, Dutch has influenced so many burgeoning musicians and his legacy will be that they and those who follow them, will keep the faith. My deepest sympathies to Sam, Sonny and family.”

Netherlands-born Tilders emigrated to Australia with his family in 1955. He enjoyed a long career that took in over a dozen albums and a friendship with B.B King.
