Conquering 2016 with his latest album The Past Beats Inside Me Like A Second Heartbeat simply isn’t enough for Urthboy. Today, the MC has released a brand new track Crushing Hard and announced a run of headline dates in support of it, which will have him zigzagging all over the country.
Those who have been paying attention will notice that Crushing Hard (below) is the spiritual sequel to Second Heartbeat album finale Wade In The Water, but that’s about as far as any comparisons to previous offerings from the rapper goes. For the most part, Crushing Hard is a journey into previously uncharted sonic territories.
“It uses a lyric from that song and springboards into a completely different space in the same spectrum of love,” Urthboy says.
“If Wade in the Water is about an enduring love that is wonderfully imperfect and turbulent and real, Crushing Hard is about the impatient intensity that leads up to it. It’s also about not having the emotional maturity to come out and simply tell the person you like that you have a crush on them.”
Urthboy’s previous run of Australian tour dates saw shows sell out, so we suspect the Crushing Hard tour featuring contemporaries Joyride and Alice Ivy will be no different. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
