Anderson .Paak’s Album Was Made On A Crappy Mac With A “Dented Mic”

Anderson .Paak‘s Malibu is popping up on many ‘Best Of 2016’ lists and while it sounds damn good, it turns out he made it from very little.

The Dr. Dre collaborator who was in the country earlier this year for Listen Out took to Twitter to reveal how the album was made, and to say it wasn’t done with state of the art equipment would be an understatement.

“We did #Malibu on a Mac mini with an old dented mic off struggle tree and frontu leaf,” he said.

“We knew things would get better but damn!”

It’s not bad for a record that has just earned him Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and Best Urban Contemporary Album.

Paak has been heavily tweeting since he heard the news. He said that he was “overjoyed” and was also “so proud and happy” for the other nominees.

Imagine what he can do on his next album now that he’s got some serious cash and the whole world watching.

So, if you’re sitting in your bedroom thinking you can’t make a hit record because you’ve got no money, look at what Paak’s done and get to work.
