Foo Fighters Share Amazing Mashup Of ‘The Pretender’ & Rick James’ ‘Super Freak’

With the amount of ridiculous mashups floating around the interwebs these days, it’s increasingly hard to pull treasure from trash, so when Foo Fighters personally endorse a mashup that contains one of their own tracks, it’s a surefire sign you better listen up.

This morning, the band posted to Twitter, sharing a mashup of their iconic 2007 track The Pretender and Rick James 80s classic Super Freak, and it’s so perfect it hurts.

Somehow, James’ lyrics fit way too well with the Foo Fighters’ instrumental on the track, in a way that’ll make you wonder why Rick James didn’t make further inroads into rock music in his career.

The mashup also contains short snippets of Help Me Rhonda by The Beach Boys and Led Zeppelin’s Stairway To Heaven, as well as actual footage of James commentating on the original clip for Super Freak.

The creation of YouTube’s DJ Cummerbund, the mashup is nothing short of perfection, and Foo Fighters appropriately captioned the post “FUCK YES”.
