Here’s The Final Song Matt & Alex Played On Triple J

It’s emotional times at triple J HQ, with your brekky baes Matt and Alex waving goodbye to their regular gig keeping you company over your morning Cornflakes. But they’re definitely not going quietly.

The LOLbros fronted up for the morning slot for one last bout of on-air shenanigans today — delivering their very own freakin’ Like A Version with a slew of special guests and signing off with an emotional and inspiring farewell — following their epic victory lap of raves ’round the country.

Naturally, the last song the jocks’ spun to bring their three year brekky stint to an end was always going to be a big deal. Not just anything would do: it had to be epic, it had to be meaningful and it had to hit us right in the feels. And their song of choice defo ticked all of those boxes.

The soundtrack of #MattAndAlexit was a homegrown mega-tune with triple j written all over it: A Like A Version medley from 2013 that saw Illy pay tribute to a stack of Aussie artists including Silverchair, Hilltop Hoods, Paul Kelly and Flume.

Give it a spin below and just try to stop your eyes from getting moist.

ICYMI: Matt and Alex aren’t the only J hosts to be G’ing TFO next year, with Kyran Wheatley, Sarah Howells and Lewi McKirdy all saying Smell Ya Later to the station.
