Shannon Noll Becomes A Government Ambassador For Live Music

Shannon ‘Nollsie’ Noll has just been announced as a government ambassador for live music.

Government and Nollsie probably aren’t two words you’d expect to hear in the same sentence but it’s happening, with the Australian icon set to work with the Live Music Office to create micro-music festivals in regional Australia.

Anyone who has belted out What About Me with Nollsie over the past few years will know that there’s no better live shows than the former Aus Idol contestant’s gigs, so it’s a perfect fit.

He’s super excited too saying, “I was lucky enough to get a leg up through a TV show, but for the average country muso there aren’t a lot of opportunities. This is a great initiative and another platform to showcase regional talent.”

The Condobolin boy knows a thing or two about gigging in rural Australia and this is one job that city boy Guy Sebastian won’t be able to rob from him.

Minister for the Arts Troy Grant is as stoked as Nollsie is about the appointment.

“Shannon knows how tough it can be to get a start in the music industry, especially if you’re from a small country town, and we’re delighted to have him involved in this initiative,” he said.

It sounds like Shannon is going to be helping out all those young, rural musicians who are currently asking, “what about me?”
