Stream Nine Inch Nails’ New EP ‘Not The Actual Events’

While most acts may have wrapped up operations for the year, Nine Inch Nails have made good on their promise to drop a new EP by the end of the year, with Not The Actual Events now available to stream online.

The record is smothered in thick, distorted textures, and often abrasive melodic material. Trent Reznor described the sound as “unfriendly” and “fairly impenetrable” in a Facebook post last week.

In the same post, the band indicated that the new material will sound “unrecognizable” from the latest album Hesitation Marks, with the new EP the first contribution from Reznor’s longtime collaborator Atticus Ross, who is now an official member of Nine Inch Nails.

Reznor also explained last week that the reason why the release is an EP is because “that ended up being the proper length to tell that story”. Fair enough.
