Singer George Michael Dies, Age 53

UPDATE 28/12/16: George Michael’s boyfriend has revealed that he found the singer’s dead body on Christmas morning.

UPDATE 26/12/2016: George Michael’s manager has since revealed to Billboard that the singer died of heart failure.

ORIGINAL STORY: Former Wham! singer George Michael has died aged 53.

As the BBC reports, the singer’s publicist has confirmed Michael’s death, adding that he “passed away peacefully at home”.

In a statement, Michael’s publicist says: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period.

“The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage.”

Thames Valley Police have reportedly said that South Central Ambulance Service attended a property in Goring in Oxfordshire at 13:42 GMT. Police say there were no suspicious circumstances.

George Michael, born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, sold over 100 million albums throughout his career, and had success with Wham! as well as in a solo career.
