Woman Dies After Being Hit By Falling Branch At Lost Paradise Festival

A 21-year-old woman has died after being hit by a falling tree branch at Lost Paradise festival on the New South Wales Central Coast.

Fairfax Media reports the woman was helping set up for the event in Glenworth Valley on Wednesday afternoon when she sat down in front of a tree, before a branch snapped off and hit her in the head.

The woman, who police say lived in Canberra, went into cardiac arrest and was treated by paramedics, before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a Careflight helicopter. She arrived in a critical condition with head, spinal and shoulder injuries, and later died.

Police officers attended the festival site, and established a crime scene, while Safe Work NSW is investigating the incident and a report will also be prepared for the Coroner.

The incident took place before attendees arrived at the festival, which kicked off on Thursday and finishes tonight, Saturday, 31st December.
