UPDATE 12/01/16: The class action lawsuit against Falls Festival is going ahead, but won’t jeopardise the festival’s future, a lawyer involved in the case has said.
ORIGINAL STORY: Falls Festival is facing a possible lawsuit over a crowd crush incident which took place at the Victorian leg of this year’s event in Lorne. The incident left 60 people injured and 19 seriously injured on Friday night, 30th December.
AAP reports that a law firm has spoken with 10 people who were caught up in the accident, and is asking for others to come forward as it contemplates a potential class action. The firm claims the design of the space in front of Falls Lorne’s Grand Theatre stage may be to blame, while some punters injured in the crush have blamed a lack of exits.
Following the incident, a 19-year-old Victorian woman who was injured in the stampede described her experience to Music Feeds, saying, “It looked like a war zone, honestly. There was blood everywhere, the grass was stained with blood.”
Music Feeds also obtained exclusive footage of the incident, before “devastated” Falls Festival organisers apologised for the crowd crush incident.
