Brisbane’s ‘Rosies Live’ Stopping all live music

Brisbane venue Rosies Live will be stopping all live music at the end of May after being bought by the same group that renovated Fox Hotel. May 27th will be the last night of live music at the venue and it comes as a blow to a number of local nights.

The new owners are known as the ‘Fox Boys’, their real names are Paul Johnston and Austin Ward.

Outgoing owner Tony McLeod said:

“They buy old, tired venues and return them to their former glory… they make them beautiful,” which he believes will be their plan with Rosies as well. He also said that they’ll be retaining an element of music through DJs, but not live music.

Local promoter James Geekie, who built the Rosies stage said:

It’s very disappointing… in the CBD and even The Valley, alternative music is being pushed further away
