Keep Sydney Open Calls On New Premier Gladys Berejiklian To Meet & Consult On Sydney’s Nightlife

#CasinoMike may be gone, but only time will tell whether new NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian will be any more reasonable when it comes to policy change regarding Sydney’s lockout laws.

Early signs are not looking promising, with the new Premier making her first comments about the laws recently, saying that she’s “kind of at a comfortable place with them now,” and that they’re useful because “mums and dads in the suburbs are worried about what their kids are doing.”

Always the optimists, anti-lockout activists Keep Sydney Open have now issued a challenge to Berejiklian to meet with them and discuss “real policy solutions for Sydney’s night time economy.”

In a new video posted to the Keep Sydney Open Facebook page, KSO leader Tyson Koh congratulated Ms Berejiklian on gaining the position of Premier. Koh then calls on the new Premier to use this “opportunity to refresh and reset the agenda in NSW.”

“Mike Baird’s mistake was that he made up his mind without really examining the issues and consulting groups like Keep Sydney Open,” Koh continues. “He thought that it was a choice between lockouts and no lockouts, but we’re saying the choice is actually between lockouts and smart policy that will keep Sydney safe.”

He then implores Berejiklian to consult with Keep Sydney Open in order to deliver “the late night culture that a world city like Sydney deserves.”

Keep Sydney Open are planning to hold their next rally protesting the lockout laws on Saturday, 18th February.
