Tasmania’s Party In The Paddock festival kicks off today, and we’ve got both bad new and good news for punters heading along.
First, the bad news — Kiwi legend Opiuo is unfortunately too sick to perform, and won’t be able to take his spot closing the paddock stage this evening.
“I hate to have to do this, but due to health reasons I’ve been forced to cancel my performance at the festival tonight. I’m gutted,” Opiuo writes on Facebook. “I will do my very best to come back to Tasmania to play for as many of you as soon as I can. I’m so sorry. Thank you for your understanding.”
There is a silver lining, thankfully. The man considered by many to be the nicest guy in Aussie music, Paces, will step up to fill the vacated spot.
A regular on the Australian festival circuit, Paces most recently performed a killer set at Field Day, nabbed #56 in triple j‘s Hottest 100 for his cover of L D R U’s ‘Keeping Score’ (with Guy Sebastian) and has just released his latest single, an absolute banger called ‘Savage’.
