Hear Lana Del Rey’s Cinematic New Song ‘Love’

Your fave sad girl Lana Del Rey has returned to steal the limelight once again with her first new song in nearly 16 months.

The sweeping epic ‘Love’ may come as something of a surprise — arriving not long after a crop of mysterious teaser posters popped up all over La La Land — but there are no surprises about the song itself.

It’s everything that fans of the anti-pop popstar have come to — well — love; lyrics that pang with aching sorrow and wistful nostalgia, whisper-crooned against a plodding, cinematic score. And like much of Del Rey’s fair, this isn’t the appropriate tune to soundtrack an ugly cry, but rather a resolute stare into the distant rain while tears streak silently down your face.

Once again, the popstar formerly known as Lizzy Grant has nailed her unique brand of glamorous retro sad-sackery right on its pretty little head, and we adore her for it.

‘Love’ — which ends with a lyrical nod to the Beach Boys’ classic ‘Don’t Worry Baby’ and has a music video coming soon (teaser below) — marks Del Rey’s first fresh single since her 2015 Honeymoon LP, and what’s more, it’s widely believed to be carved off her forthcoming fourth album.

And as we all know painfully well, Lana hasn’t toured here since her debut Born To Die, so hopefully a new LP means it’ll finally be our turn again (although her Splendour In The Grass 2017 prospects tragically aren’t good).

Watch this space, and get your ears on ‘Love’ below.
