George Michael’s Cause Of Death Revealed

The cause of George Michael‘s death at the age of 53 has been revealed, with a coroner confirming the singer died of natural causes resulting from heart and liver disease.

As the BBC reports, Michael was suffering from dilated cardiomyopathy (in which the heart’s ability to pump blood is decreased) with myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) and fatty liver, according to Oxfordshire’s Senior Coroner, Darren Salter.

Salter says there is no need for an inquest into Michael’s death, because there was a “natural cause of death”.

Police had originally said that Michael’s death on Christmas Day 2016 was unexplained but not suspicious, and an initial autopsy was “inconclusive”.

At the weekend, Michael’s former partner Kenny Goss told The Sunday Mirror, “I think his body just gave up. All these years, it was just weak.

“We just want closure, we want the funeral to happen, it’s been a long time now.”

Since his death, George Michael has been honoured in a string of tributes from fellow musicians, including Elton John, Adele and Coldplay’s Chris Martin.
