Chris Shiflett Says Next Foo Fighters Australian Tour Is “Coming Down The Pipe”

Look, you probably already guessed it’d be happening, but it’s always nice to get the official word.

Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett has just confirmed to Music Feeds that plans for the band’s next big Aussie tour are “coming down the pipe”, with a new Foos album firming fast on the horizon.

Despite details surrounding the rock n’ roll ledgehammers’ new disc being guarded like Gringotts (the axeman was cheekily coy about revealing any solid deets) Shiflett did let slip that the Foos next big release would be served up with a hot side of Aussie tour dates.

“We always tour Australia when we have a new album so no doubt that will be coming down the pipe,” he revealed, adding that he wasn’t sure how long we’d have to wait until that happens.

“They don’t tell me anything!” he laughed. “I’m the last guy — you’ll know before I know, I guarantee it.”

Shiflett was also bummed to learn that Australia’s Big Day Out festival doesn’t exist anymore: “That’s too bad, that was really one of my favourite touring experiences of my entire life, the first time we did Big Day Out,” he reminisced.

“It was 2000 and it was like us and The Hellacopters and Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros and Primal Scream… I mean, that was one of the most amazing experiences of my whole life. It was the first time I’d ever toured around Australia for starters, but it was just off the hook the whole time.”

Shiflett shared some of his top Big Day Out memories with us as well (at least, the ones he’s able talk about without getting himself arrested) which you can read all about in the full interview, coming soon.

It comes after Foo Fighters recently side-swiped us all with a hiatus-busting surprise gig in the UK, during which they announced plans to headline Glastonbury 2017 and performed two new songs, which Shiflett says it’s “feasible” will end up on the band’s new record.

In the meantime, the Foos string-slinger is busy fronting his own solo country project, and he’s got a brand new album dubbed West Coast Town coming out on April 14th.
