A Fan At Adele’s Adelaide Gig Had An Anaphylactic Reaction To One Of The Falling Balloons

A woman is recovering from an anaphylactic reaction after coming into contact with one of the falling balloons at Adele’s Adelaide concert.

The black and white balloons fall from the sky during I’ll Be Waiting, one of the early songs in the set. Pooja Newman reacted to the latex powder on the balloons and immediately started to have a reaction.

“I felt my lips swelling and couldn’t breathe, I knew I was in trouble,” she told 7 News.

She’s been in ICU at Royal Adelaide Hospital for the last two days with family members saying, “we could have lost her,” after the ambulance took a while to reach her.

Adelaide Oval, however, has issued a statement saying that the matter was dealt with in “exemplary fashion”.

The family is encouraging the venue to think about ruling out the balloons for future events as it’s a, “well known occupational allergy.”

It’s the second reported health scare at an Adele show in the country after a fan at one of her Sydney shows suffered a cardiac arrest.
