Splendour’s Scrapping Annoying Drink Tokens For Something Better In 2017

Byron Bay’s annual all-ages camping festival Splendour In The Grass may have dropped its huge 2017 lineup today, but it’s also announced that it’s done with the annoying drink token system used in previous years, and is replacing it with something way more efficient.

Gone are the days of having to line up to exchange your cash for tokens, only to have to line up again to get your hands on a beverage — a problem which is perfectly summed up by this tweet from indie outfit Cub Sport back in 2010, which has a very different meaning in 2017:

Switching things up for 2017, Splendour organisers say, “This year we’ve scrapped the token system and have joined forces with Visa to bring you Visa payWave at all bars.

“That means less time waiting in lines. Yay for that!”

So yeah, prepare to see a whole lotta’ this going on:

Splendour 2017 will feature a bunch of different bars, including the Moët Champagne Bar, Mo’Rockin Wine Bar, Carlton Dry Bar and the Smirnoff Cocktail Bar, as well as three massive food halls to keep punters well-fed.

Visa will also be running a pre-sale for this year’s Splendour tickets, so if you wanna get in early, catch all the pre-sale deets below.

This year’s Splendour shindig is set to host the likes of Queens Of The Stone Age, LCD Soundsystem and The xx as headliners in July. Peep the full lineup right here, and festival dates and ticket details, below.
