A Song On Northlane’s New Album Is A Tribute To Architects Guitarist Tom Searle

Last year, Architects guitarist Tom Searle passed away after a battle with cancer and now Northlane have paid their respects to the influential metal guitarist on their latest album Mesmer.

A week after Searle passed away, Northlane guitarist Jon Deiley called bandmate Josh Smith saying that they had to write a tribute song for him.

Smith took to Twitter to talk about the song ‘Paragon’ which ended up on their album which surprise-dropped on Friday.

“It was an extremely hard thing to do because we wanted it to live up to his stellar talent for songwriting,” he wrote.

Instead of penning their own lyrics, the band decided to reappropriate their favourite Architects lyrics. All the lyrics in the final song are reappropriations of Searle’s lyrics apart from a few lines that are taken from Rise Against’s ‘Architects’.

Architects have responded to the tribute taking to Twitter to write, “Thank you Northlane for Paragon.”
