Tool Teased A Date, But It Wasn’t For Their New Album

It’s clear that Tool are just messing with us now.

Earlier this week the band had fans freaking the f*ck out after they posted a mysterious teaser image to their socials, which featured the date 24th June.

Fans (and us alike) thought the teaser might have something to do with the band’s long-awaited fifth studio album, which is due for release this year.

But, alas… it’s got nothing to do with it.

Today, Tool have come clean, announcing that on 24th June they’ll actually be playing a huge show at the Glen Helen Amphitheater in San Bernardino, California, where they’ll be supported by fellow rock legends Primus and Melvins.

The show will also feature DJ sets by The Crystal Method, and “an additional special guest” who will supposedly be announced “soon” (which can mean anything coming from Tool).

So while the show will clearly be epic and might even see Tool show off some new material, it isn’t quite the announcement fans were so desperately hoping for.

Earlier this year, Tool’s Maynard James Keenan began recording vocals for the group’s next album, and since then the band have reportedly been in talks to bring their back-catalogue to streaming services before their newie gets released.

It’s promising news, but will we have to wait even longer for the follow-up to 10,000 Days now that the “24th June” teaser fell through?

It definitely looks like it.
