Sony Are Suing American Chain Applebee’s For Using AC/DC Track In Ad Campaign

Sony is taking legal action against American restaurant chain Applebee’s for using AC/DC’s music in its latest advertising campaign.

As TMZ reports, AC/DC’s 1980 track ‘Rock And Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution’ has been used in an advertisement for the restaurant, and Sony allege that Applebee’s hasn’t yet paid for the use of the song.

In the lawsuit Sony say they were contacted by a third-party about the track being used in the advertisement, but were never paid the price they quoted for the use of the song. They apparently set the price at $250,000 USD.

Applebee’s is claiming that they paid the third-party, and a spokesperson for the restaurant said “Applebee’s intends to vigorously defend this lawsuit, which we believe does not have merit. We cannot comment further on pending litigation.”
