Melbourne electronic producer JAMATAR is a wizard with his Gameboy, the enigmatic artist weaving its rudimentary tones and childhood-reminiscent beeps and bops into beautiful sonic melodies, resulting in such dreamy tracks as his latest single ‘Reflect’.
Featuring Natalie Foster – whose voice you’ll recognise from Elk Road’s Hottest 100-placing track ‘Hanging By A Thread’ – ‘Reflect’ bursts with a cacophony of whimsical and blissful sounds, those familiar MIDI tones bending in and out of Foster’s soaring vocals.
The track was inspired by an Alice Carroll animation of a girl lost in space. In it, the narrator descends into a spiral of fear when she loses her reflection but manages to overcome her fear and self-doubt and, in the process, discovers an inner strength.
JAMATAR will be taking ‘Reflect’ to the stage this June, with shows in Sydney and Melbourne. See dates below.
