Camp Cope Launch New Safe-Space Hotline For Upcoming Shows

Local rockers Camp Cope have launched a new safe-space hotline to help fans report harassment and receive help at their upcoming shows.

Announcing the new initiative through a hilariously on-point Instagram post, the band say they’ll be handing out “tiny pieces of paper” with the hotline number on them at their upcoming dates supporting Against Me!.

“If you feel unsafe at all at these shows, please call the number and we will assist you because we believe everyone has the right to feel safe at shows,” the band say.

The new hotline comes after Camp Cope teamed up with Laneway Festival earlier this year to create an anti-harassment phone line for the festival, partly inspired by Camp Cope’s #ItTakesOne campaign in 2016.

A number of sexual assaults were reported at Australian concerts last festival season, including incidents at Groovin The Moo, UNIFY Gathering and Falls Festival.

If you need assistance, 1800 RESPECT – the National Sexual Assault, Domestic and Family Violence Counselling Service — can be reached on 1800 737 732, while Lifeline can be reached on 13 11 14.
