Paul Dempsey Will Casually Blow Your Mind With His Middle Kids Cover On ‘Like A Version’

Another week, another instalment of triple j‘s Like A Version covers segment to spice up your Friday.

This week it was the man, the myth, the Something For Kate legend Paul Dempsey stepping into the hot seat.

Expectations were naturally high following his instantly iconic previous crack at Like A Version, which earned Something For Kate the #68 position in the 2013 Hottest 100 for their incredible take on the Calvin Harris/Florence Welch hit ‘Sweet Nothing’.

But, as always, Dempsey has delivered yet again, this time wrapping his gravelly pipes around another contemporary track — Middle Kids‘ recent single ‘Edge Of Town’ — stripping it back for a bare-bones acoustic rendition that allowed us to once again be gobsmacked by the nuclear power of his raw talent.

The veteran troubadour also flashed us his OG track ‘Idiot Oracle’ for good measure. Check out clips of both performances below, and catch him performing live at a venue near you on his Blindspot national tour this June.
