UPDATE: The First-Ever Storm Festival Australia Has Been Cancelled
ORIGINAL STORY: China’s biggest EDM festival, Budweiser Storm, has announced that it will expand to Australia in 2017.
Storm Australia will take place in Sydney later this year, as the festival takes place outside mainland China for the very first time.
Founded in 2013, Storm festival has previously hosted international acts like Tiesto, Avicii, Skrillex, RL Grime, Alesso, Hardwell, Duke Dumont and Booka Shade, and has been steadily expanding over the last few years, hosting events in five major Chinese cities last year to around 250,000 festival-goers.
The event is run by Chinese EDM promotions company A2LiVE, which says more details are still to come about when (and exactly where) the first-ever Storm Australia event will take place.
News of Storm festival’s Australian expansion comes after EDM mega-festival Ultra announces its debut Australian events earlier this year, which itself came after the loss of Australia’s biggest EDM festival, Stereosonic, and that “totally fake” 2017 Stereosonic lineup poster which was doing the rounds.
