Woodford Folk Festival Is Capping Attendance This Year For The First Time

One of Australia’s longest running festivals has announced that it will limit ticket sales for the first time in its history this year.

The 2017/2018 edition of Woodford Folk Festival will see a cap placed on attendance, for the purpose of ensuring that patrons have a comfortable and enjoyable experience, as well as to help preserve the festival site at Woodfordia.

In a statement Festival Director Bill Hauritz said that the new limit was being implemented after years of growth in numbers, and that it was a necessary step to keep the festival running.

“Last year was – dare we say it – our ‘best’ festival,” he said. “The festival was the cleanest, most respectful, most energetic and beautiful that we’ve seen. Because of our growing popularity, we’ve had to make big changes. A lot of work is going into creating a deeper festival experience for our beloved patrons.”

That’s not the only change for this year’s event, with organisers also revealing that tickets will be exclusively available online for the first time and will also be more expensive than previous years, as well as the fact that that patrons attending will also need to secure a car pass for the first time.

While organisers teased that this Woodford Folk Festival 2016/2017 could go car-free for the first time earlier this year, this latest news confirms that cars will still be allowed, for another year at least.

RFID cashless wrist-bands will also be making a return at this year’s festival, and as usual Woodford will offer a mix of music, comedy, arts and other activities for patrons of all ages.

Early-bird tickets are on sale this Wednesday, 17th May at 12pm.
