Finally, A New Album From Gillian Welch

Two of the best alt.country albums of the past decade or so came from the great Gillian Welch, 2003’s Soul Journey and 2001’s Time (The Revelator). Now, Welch is set to release her fifth album in June, entitled The Harrow and the Harvest.

TwentyFourBit reports that the album will be released on June 28 through her own label Acony Records. While Welch hasn’t released an album under her own name since 2003, she has been very busy with other projects, including recording and playing with the Decemberists, playing with Conor Oberst and of course her long-time music partner David Rawlings, with whom she so memorably teamed up with to add a great deal of soul to Ryan Adams‘ solo debut, Heartbreaker.

Welch is also gearing up to support the newly reformed Buffalo Springfield on their US tour.
