Brisbane’s Dead Of Winter Fest’s 2017 Lineup Just Got Even Bigger

Brisbane’s Dead of Winter Festival has dropped a behemoth second artist announcement, expanding its 2017 bill to more than 50 acts.

After already announcing a stacked bill featuring The Bennies (in their only QLD performance), The Meanies (on their last ever national tour), Whoretopsy, Hollow, Black Rheno and more, the annual horror-themed alt-culture bash has added another 27 new acts to the party, including scene veterans The Porkers on their 30th anniversary tour, femme Rock royalty Dallas Frasca, New Zealand’s Beastie Boys-meets-Ska Punk party band Night Gaunts in an Aussie exclusive appearance, Brisbane Rock kings Giants of Science, and many more.

Notably, the festival has proudly curated a showcase of amazing acts, of whom 40% contain at least one member identifying as either female or non-binary, which is a figure rarely reached in heavy music events both locally and internationally.

They’ll be tearing up five stages across Brisbane’s iconic Jubilee Hotel on Saturday, 29th July.

“We’ve spent months scouring the best possible lineup and are super proud of what will unfold July 29 in Brisbane,” says rep Christian Tryhorn. “With some big ticket items and a mix of genres represented by a host of nationally-touring festival acts, we’ve also set up regional band heats this year giving hard-working lower level bands a chance to win an opening slot on the bill.”

As well as live music, this one-of-a-kind event will also feature its regular ‘Freak Show Alley’, showcasing a range of sword-swallowing, fire breathing, nail-hammering and Burlesque acts, together with a Zombie make-over booth, horror films, food trucks and night markets.

“The Dead of Winter really is a festival for everyone and we work hard to make all feel included on the day amongst a horror setting for a bit of added fun,” Tryhorn continues. “You won’t find a bigger and better offering for the money.”
