Jane’s Addiction For Hollywood Rock Walk

Veteran rockers Jane’s Addiction are to be recognised by the ‘establishment’ with their induction into Hollywood’s Rock Walk.

A ceremony will take place on Wednesday June 1 outside the famous Guitar Center in Los Angeles, where band members Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro and Stephen Perkins will sink their hands into the cement. The honour will be bestowed upon them by Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello, who will officially induct the band at the ceremony.

Jane’s Addiction will take their place alongside such luminous artists as Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton.

The band formed in the City of Angels in 1985, only to split in 1991. They reformed in 1997 and 2001 without original bassist Eric Avery. The band’s original line up did perform together in 2008, with Avery once again leaving the fold when they started working on new material.

Since 2010, the band have enjoyed the services of TV On The Radio‘s Dave Sitek on bass. Jane’s Addiction’s fourth album, The Great Escape Artist, is set to come out later this year, their first LP since 2003’s rather fine Strays.

And in tribute to the lads, here is an old clip of Just Because from the days of Strays, from a performance on Letterman. Bassist here is Chris Chaney.
