Another Sydney Venue Has Been Granted A Lockout Extension

Popular Sydney club Chinese Laundry is the latest venue to score a lockouts extension.

The venue will now be able to take in people until 2am and will be able to serve drinks until 3.30am which is a 30 minute extension.

Chinese Laundry took to Facebook to announce the extension which will be effective immediately.

It’s the latest in a string of venues to be granted an exemption to the lockout laws. The New South Wales Government has granted extensions to World Bar, Oxford Art Factory, The Basement and more.

Earlier this year Minister for Racing Paul Toole said that he was expecting to grant 16 other venues an extension on top of the venues they have already approved.

These exemptions come after the government agreed to relax the laws for live music venues. This came off the back of the Callinan Review which looked into the 1.30am lockout and 3am cease of service.

Just today, activist group Keep Sydney Open announced a festival to protest the laws that still remain in majority of Sydney’s venues.
