Big Village Records release compilation

One of Sydney’s most exciting new record labels, Big Village boasts an impressive line up of local hip hop artists including Daily Meds, Loose Change, True Vibenation, Reverse Polarities, Tuka (Thundamentals), Ellesquire and Jeswon all of whom are showcased on the label’s first ever compilation, Big Things Volume 1. Having started strong last year with releases from Tuka and Daily Meds, along with a free album from Loose Change, the label are set to push on into the new year, Big Things Volume 1 already named FBi‘s Album of the Week, the compilation but a taste of things yet to come.

The compilation showcases the broad spectrum of styles and influences that you can come to expect from the Big Village camp, their artists dedicated to thoughtful lyricism and experimenting with different sounds and ideas in their music. As the artists tend not to each eschew the conventions of hip hop in their own way, representing anything from 90’s boom bap rap to dubstep, grime, electro and back, the compilation serves as a perfect introduction to the label and its artists, allowing a listener the chance to meet and greet the whole crew if you will, and to get an idea where each artist is coming from and how they communicate.

Out now through Other Tongues, this is a must have for anyone who calls themselves and Australian hip hop fan.
