Is JAY-Z Coming To Australia For Bluesfest 2018?

UPDATE: Bluesfest has shut down speculation that JAY-Z will be headlining Bluesfest 2018.

ORIGINAL STORY: There’s speculation that JAY-Z is the first headliner to be locked-in for Bluesfest 2018.

As The Music Network picked up, Bluesfest director Peter Noble sent an email around saying that the “first headliner” had been confirmed for the festival.

“We had that wonderful moment occur last week, when a top line headliner confirmed for Bluesfest 2018,” he wrote.

“He is a beauty and it will be an absolute pleasure to bring him to Bluesfest. That only leaves around 99 artists to go.”

It may be a stretch, but the 99 seems to be a reference to one of HOV’s biggest songs ’99 Problems’, and there are a number of reasons why it could be correct.

Firstly, Jay is set to release his first album 4:44 at the end of this month, his first in four years.

He hasn’t toured since the ‘On The Run’ tour with his wife Beyoncé back in 2014 but there is also news circulating that he plans to tour later this year. Page Six revealed that he was planning to tour in the “fall” after the release of the album. That would mean he’d be in the thick of a tour by the time Bluesfest rolled around.

It’s pure speculation at this point but it’s a very exciting prospect. He hasn’t toured here since he supported U2 back in 2010.
