Download Festival “Talking To Two Amazing Headliners” For Australian Debut, Says AJ Maddah

UPDATE: The Download Festival Australia Website Is Now Live

ORIGINAL STORY: Former Soundwave Festival promoter AJ Maddah just gave new life to Download Festival‘s anticipated Australian debut, after saying that organisers are in discussions with “two amazing headliners” for the trip down under.

Taking (of course) to Twitter, Maddah says, “Download looks promising. They’re talking to two amazing headliners from what I hear.”

He also says that Metallica’s next Australian tour — which he previously said would take place in 2017 — will now be “next year”.

Maddah’s comments come after Music Feeds broke news of Download Festival’s Aussie plans last year.

Touring company Live Nation later purchased the Australian domain name for Download Festival, and the event is now expected to make its Aussie debut in 2018.

Download Festival’s recent UK and Spain lineups provide a glimpse at what Aussies could be in store for, including big-name heavy acts like System Of A Down, Biffy Clyro, Aerosmith, Prophets Of Rage, Linkin Park and A Day To Remember.

AJ Maddah has previously leaked details of Australian tours by the likes of Underoath and Slipknot.
