Acrobat Falls To His Death Right Before Green Day’s Set At A Spanish Festival

UPDATE: Green Day have now released a statement after being criticised for performing at Mad Cool festival.

ORIGINAL STORY: An acrobat performing at Spanish music festival Mad Cool has tragically fallen to his death.

As The Mirror reports, Pedro Aunion was the entertainment between Alt-J and Green Day on the main stage when he fell. Paramedics treated him on the scene but he was pronounced dead shortly after.

Green Day’s set was delayed by half an hour but they eventually took to the stage. A number of attendees criticised the band for performing at all but they took to Twitter after to let fans know that they received the news after the performance.

“We just got off stage at Mad Cool Festival to disturbing news. A very brave artist named Pedro lost his life tonight in a tragic accident,” they wrote.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.”

The festival has since faced backlash online for continuing with the event. In a statement, Mad Cool defended the decision, citing security reasons.

“It was officially deemed unsafe to have a large mass of people moving all at once, with the possibility of violent reactions, due to a sudden cancelation of an event of 45,000 people,” they wrote in a statement.
