Aussie ‘Rock Star: Supernova’ Hero Toby Rand Announces Intimate Tour With New Project ‘Rand’

Ten years ago when Australian Idol was all the rage, Aussie rock n’ roll fans found solace in a little show on Fox 8 called Rock Star Supernova, in which a mighty hard rock supergroup featuring Metallica’s Jason Newsted, Guns N’ Roses’ Gilby Clarke and Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee held an internationally televised talent comp to bag themselves a frontman (or woman).

TBH it shat all over Idol, and local punters who watched it as religiously as I did almost definitely had a man-crush on Toby Rand, the unapologetically blokey Aussie contestant who consistently nailed his covers, set the world on fire with his OG tune ‘Throw It Away’, and injected the yankee reality show with a refreshing dose of ‘Stayan slang including the instantly iconic ‘EVS’, before ultimately coming runner-up in the comp to old m8 Lukas Rossi (boo-urns).

Anyway, after kicking dicks in LA with his original band Juke Kartel for the past decade (still can’t believe it’s been that long), The Tobenator is back with a brand new electro-rock project dubbed simply RAND, which is a bit of an all-star collab with Neighbours actor/multi-instrumentalist Sebastian Gregory, and he’s getting primed to conquer the world with some intimate warm-up shows on home turf.

He’ll be hitting two venues in Sydney and Melbourne next week off the back of his new single ‘Chameleon’, which is out soon.

Catch all the details below.
