‘Baby Driver’ Director Edgar Wright Just Had Beers With King Gizzard After All The Collaboration Hype

Edgar Wright, director of critically acclaimed rear-ending action blockbuster Baby Driver has cracked a couple of coldies with the lads from King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard on the heels of their recent collaboration talk.

ICYMI: the music-loving cinematic genius came out of the King Gizz closet on Twitter a few months back, expressing his keenness to direct a music video for the band (!!!!)

Then, yesterday, the director dude stopped by triple j to continue having a froth about his fave Aussie artists.

“In the last 12 months, I’m thinking about Australian bands I really love… obviously Tame Impala, but also Courtney Barnett, Pond, and that artist called…Olympia? She an Australian?” he said.

“But then I tell ya the other band I’ve seen twice in the last year that I really, genuinely love is King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.”

Yep. Such was Mr. Wright’s thirst for Gizz that he spilled plans to catch up with them during his next trip to Melbourne, and even pledged to use the band’s psych gem ‘Gamma Knife’ in a chase scene for Baby Driver‘s hypothetical sequel.

And staying true to his word, he liaised with the lads at a screening of Baby Driver in the Victorian capital last night:

Does this mean the foretold collaboration is actually happening?!

Either way, it seems like King Gizz have a new #1 fan.
