Music Feeds Faves – 14/07/17

The Music Feeds team is ready to wax lyrical about tunes we’re digging and show how ~cool~ we are when dropping that new music knowledge. Here we’ve wrangled together the fresh new songs that made an impact on us, for the ultimate new music playlist. It’s Music Feeds Faves!

Ruel – ‘Don’t Tell Me’

It’s mind-boggling that Ruel has only been on the planet for 14 years and has a voice this rich with emotion and experience. It’s a whole new level of astonishing to then learn the young Aussie artist actually penned his debut solo single ‘Don’t Tell Me’ at 12 years of age. 12. Take a minute for that to sink in.

Prodigy is the only word here that accurately describes the talented, young star who you might remember from his performance with producer and mentor M-Phazes on Like A Version a few weeks back. What was apparent then is blatantly obvious now – Ruel is a star on the rise and he’s only just getting started. With defiant lyrics and uplifting M-Phazes-led production, the tender and soulful ‘Don’t Tell Me’ makes clear Ruel is forging a path ahead for himself. Desert Moons – ‘Rough Trade’

Desert Moons live up to their name and ~shine~ with their debut offering ‘Rough Trade’, a hypnotic synth-laced indie-electro hymn hatched under the Central Coast sky in the pair’s home studio.

Brothers Simon and Jake Dobson’s introductory handshake to their new self-produced duo project weaves a melancholy tapestry of organic and electronic instrumentation, layering surging vocals with lush, Beatles-esque harmonies over a rollicking hip-hop beat.

Nine Inch Nails – ‘Less Than’

Nine Inch Nails just released this new song, and it’s pretty good hey. Give it a listen if you like Gary Numan and, well, Nine Inch Nails. / Tom Williams, News Editor

Alpha Wolf – ‘Golden Fate; Water Break’

Prepare to have your eardrums pulverised by Melbourne riff crushers Alpha Wolf because they’ve just dropped their brand new album Mono. Like the disease of the same name, this LP will likely give you an intense case of the chills. Check out the band’s latest lethal injection of heavy dissonance AKA ‘Golden Fate; Water Break’ below and you can catch the lads on tour supporting Make Them Suffer and Thy Art Is Murder this September. / Emmy Mack, Senior Staff Writer
