Looks Like Aussie Hip Hop Festival Sprung Could Be Making A Comeback

UPDATE: The 2017 Sprung Festival lineup has now been announced.

UPDATE: It’s official — Sprung Festival is making a comeback in 2017.

ORIGINAL STORY: It looks like Australian hip hop festival Sprung could be making a comeback this year, after a bunch of cheeky updates were spotted on social media.

The Sprung Facebook page (which has been inactive for over three years) updated its profile pic and cover photo yesterday, as The Music points out, while a new Instagram account labelled ‘Sprung Festival 2017’ has also been spotted in the wild, with the description, “Australia’s Premier Hip Hop Festival”.

The Sprung Facebook page has also changed its name from ‘Sprung Hip Hop Festival’ to ‘Sprung Festival’, which suggests that any future lineups might be a little less hip hop specific.

Sprung Festival last took place in Brisbane in 2014, and while it attempted to expand into Victoria in 2013, its debut event in Melbourne was cancelled before it was scheduled to take place.

Lineup wise, the festival has previously hosted sets from the likes of Aussie hip hop stalwarts like 360, Drapht, Seth Sentry, Briggs, Horrorshow, Thundamentals, Urthboy, Funkoars, Allday, Hilltop Hoods, Illy, Pez and Spit Syndicate.

Only time will tell if the festival is preparing to make its triumphant return in 2017, but it definitely seems like organisers are…
