Watch Lorde Reimagine Six Songs From ‘Melodrama’ In An Incredible Live Session

Lorde has stripped back six songs from her most recent album Melodrama for a live session that’s likely to give you goosebumps.

The Kiwi artist returned to Electric Lady Studios in New York City where she recorded the LP to rework half the album.

She takes on ‘Sober’, ‘Writer In The Dark’, ‘Supercut’, ‘Homemade Dynamite’, ‘The Louvre’ and ‘Hard Feelings/Loveless’ with minimal instrumentation and a small choir. She’s also joined on a few occasions by Jack Antonoff of Bleachers who co-produced the album.

“I don’t really do acoustic sessions or anything, but with this record, it had roots in acoustic instruments, in live musicianship,” said in an interview about the sessions.

“I felt like the songs deserved to be pulled apart in certain ways.”

It’s a pretty special opportunity to see the album in a completely different light for the first time.

You’ll get a chance to witness Lorde live when she tours here at the end of November and plays Canberra’s Spilt Milk festival.
