Killing Heidi, Frenzal Rhomb, Sarah Blasko & More Announce Marriage Equality Charity Concert

A bunch of prominent Aussie musicians have announced that they’re teaming up for a one-off concert event in support of marriage equality, ahead of the upcoming postal plebiscite.

Unity: The Equality Campaign Concert will take place at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Tuesday, 12th September, and will feature sets from the likes of Killing Heidi, Sarah Blasko, The Jezabels and Frenzal Rhomb‘s Jay & Lindsay.

What’s more, all of the musicians on the Unity concert lineup (below) will be performing for free, with all proceeds from tickets to the show to go directly to the marriage equality charity Australian Marriage Equality (AME).

“I am embarrassed that marriage equality is still an unresolved issue in Australia – a country that loves to tout the ‘fair go for all’,” says Killing Heidi frontwoman Ella Hooper. “That slogan rings hollow when ‘all’ are clearly not treated equally or given access to the same rights, procedures and protections of the law.”

Jack Colwell, who will also be performing at the Unity concert, says, “As a gay man it means a huge amount to me that all these musicians, both queer and non-queer, have come together to show their support for the LGBT+ community. Queer people in Australia continue to face discrimination every day, and it’s high time that the majority stood up for what is right.”
