John Frusciante Is Releasing Another Acid House Album

Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante is continuing his move into the experimental electronica world with another acid house album.

Frusciante first dabbled in the genre with his 2015 record Trickfinger and he’s following that up with a sequel to the album.

He’s shared previews of the six tracks on the record which all sound worlds away from his former work with the Chili Peppers.

The LP was recorded directly to a CD burner via a cheap mixer with no overdubs. He never intended to release it but he was convinced by his label Acid Test.

Back in 2015 he told Resident Advisor, “I saw that ability in electronic music to, as a single person, create an entire piece of music.”

“Those are the kinds of leaders we had when we had classical composers. Back when composers were actually the leaders of music, there was one man who would have 150 people do what they said.”

Frusciante’s last record with Red Hot Chili Peppers was 2006’s Stadium Arcadium and since then he’s worked on his own solo projects as well as with The Mars Volta, Omar Rodríguez-López and Speed Dealer Moms.

The album will be released next Friday, 8th September but you can hear previews of every track on the record below.
