Hüsker Dü Drummer Grant Hart Reportedly Dead At 56

Grant Hart, drummer of punk band Hüsker Dü, has reportedly died at 56.

Variety has received word that the drummer has passed away and that he was battling cancer.

The band added a picture of Hart to their Facebook page just hours ago, however, are yet to officially confirm the news.

Hüsker Dü were one of the most influential punk bands of their time and Hart was a founding member alongside Bob Mould and Greg Norton.

The trio released six albums before they broke-up in 1988. Following that, Hart formed alt-rock trio Nova Mob before eventually focussing on a solo career.

Singer/songwriter Ryan Adams is one of the first fellow musicians to react to the news saying that Hart’s music, “saved my life.”

Hüsker Dü are yet to make an official statement.
