In a surprise twist, William Patrick “Billy” Corgan has reunited with estranged Smashing Pumpkins bandmate James Iha for two recordings on his new solo LP Ogilala.
Corgan’s told Rolling Stone that he and Iha teamed up on two new tracks for the Rick Rubin-produced LP — one called ‘The Processional’ and another that “will likely be a B-side”.
The pair’s new collab marks the first time they’ve worked together in the studio since Smashing Pumpkins’ 2000 LP Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music, and would appear to bode well for the long-awaited reunion of the OG Pumpkins lineup that we’ve all been waiting for.
However, The Corganator has sadly told RS that said reunion could still be a ways off.
“[A reunion tour] has been knocked about,” he says. “There’s certainly gears that turn and things get waved around, but until it’s inked, I’m in the dark as much as anybody…
“But I’ll say this and I mean it: If we never play a note together again, that’s OK. I’m way, way more interested in the fact that we have peace with each other. I’ve reached the point in my life where I’m not in a hurry to get to anything. If it’s there, great. If it’s not, cool.”
