Coldplay Joined By Peter Buck Of R.E.M. For ‘Free Fallin’ Tom Petty Tribute

The death of iconic American musician Tom Petty has brought a great sadness over the world of music today, and we’ve already begun to see some pretty special tributes to the late singer.

At Coldplay’s show in Portland the band brought former REM guitarist Peter Buck on stage to perform a tribute to the frontman of The Heartbreakers.

After holding a minute’s silence, Buck and Coldplay performed an emotional cover of arguably Petty’s most famous song ‘Freefallin.’

Petty formed The Heartbreakers in 1967 and the band released their self-titled debut album that year.

Closer to home, you can watch a career retrospective through music videos that Rage is putting on this Friday night on ABC.
