Watch The National Honour Tom Petty With ‘Damaged By Love’ Cover

Tom Petty‘s tragic passing has left the world of music shaken and saddened – and now we’re beginning to seen some great tributes as musicians begin to honour the late musician in the best way they know.

The latest effort to pay homage to Petty’s iconic and emotive songwriting has come from The National, who’ve uploaded a short video of Bryce Dessner and Matt Berninger sitting together, singing ‘Damaged By Love’.

The 2006 track is from Petty’s album Highway Companion, and The National’s intimate cover shows once again how powerful Petty’s songwriting was.

Previously we’ve seen Coldplay take time out from their live show in Portland to bring out R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck and cover ‘Freefallin’.

ABC’s Rage also announced yesterday that they’ll be putting on a Tom Petty tribute show this Friday night, playing all of his iconic music videos.
