System Of A Down Named In Code On Download Festival Australia Website

UPDATE: Korn, Limp Bizkit, Prophets Of Rage & More For Download Festival Australia

ORIGINAL STORY: Rock legends System Of A Down are named in the HTML code of the partially-launched website for Download Festival Australia, which appears to be preparing to make its Aussie debut in Melbourne in 2018.

Music Feeds can confirm that the landing page of the Download Festival Australia website — which is still publicly viewable at the time of writing, despite the homepage since being taken offline — contains a mention of System Of A Down.

However, it’s not confirmation that the band will perform at Download once it arrives down under, as their name is followed by text which seems to reference the band’s appearance at Download Festival in Madrid, Spain earlier this year.

The code reads:

“System of a Down ¡PRIMERA CONFIRMACIÓN! 23 y 24 de Junio – Madrid”

System Of A Down haven’t toured Australia since Soundwave Festival back in 2012, and they’re one of the 12 bands we think we could see on the first-ever Download Festival Australia lineup. Read up on the other 11 acts in the gallery below.

Former Soundwave promoters had previously teased that Download’s Australian debut would be announced in October, with one claiming that festival organisers had been in talks with “two amazing headliners” for the event.

Today’s partial launch of the Download Festival Australia website comes after touring company Live Nation purchased the Australian domain name for Download Festival last year. The festival is now believed to be operated by Live Nation along with tour partners Unified and Secret Sounds.
