Has The First Splendour In The Grass 2018 Act Just Outed Themselves?

UPDATE: The Wombats Say They Are “Definitely” Playing Splendour In The Grass 2018

ORIGINAL STORY: We’ve still got a little while to wait until Splendour In The Grass rolls around again, but it looks like we might already have the first act on the bill.

Speaking to Music Feeds contributor Sally McMullen in a soon-to-be-published interview, The Wombats‘ frontman Matthew “Murph” Murphy confirmed the band are booked for “a very special festival” in Australia.

When asked directly whether it’s Splendour In The Grass, Murph proved that he’s not exactly a good liar.

“Well, I can’t say! But maybe it is, maybe you’ve made a good guess (laughs),” he said. “I’m bad at keeping a secret.”

The Wombats released their new single ‘Lemon To A Knife Fight’ this week, and will follow it up with new album Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life in February, which would mean an Aussie visit is more than necessary.

They were here earlier in the year for Groovin The Moo, but are also very familiar with Splendour. They played the Byron Bay festival back in 2015, and also in 2008.

Next year’s Splendour In The Grass lineup is still a while away, but the very high possibility of The Wombats playing should be enough to maintain your excitement until then.
